A body, believed to be missing Belfast man John George, has been found in Spain. The 37-year-old father-of-two, also known as John Hardy, disappeared while holidaying in Alicante. He was last in touch with his loved ones on 14 December and was reported missing four days later after he failed to board his flight home.

The PSNI have released a statement saying they were yesterday made aware that a body recovered in Spain is believed to be that of missing man John George.

A body has been found in Spain twenty four days after a West Belfast man was first reported missing. John George, also known as John Hardy, from the Twinbrook area, was reported missing after he missed his flight home from Alicante on December 18.

The family's solicitor, Kevin Winters, said the missing man's father, Billy George, received a call from Spanish police at about 17:00 GMT to tell them that Mr George's remains were recovered.

John George left Belfast to travel to Alicante to meet friends just before Christmas but never showed up at the airport for his return flight home on December 14
