WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue point guard Braden Smith took a loss Tuesday night personally. So Friday night, he took charge — right from the start.

WEST LAFAYETTE – Purdue basketball responded to its first disappointing result in a month with its most dominant performance of the season. Plenty of high marks to go around for the No. 12 Boilermakers’ 91-64 victory over No. 20 Michigan at Mackey Arena.

Purdue set the tone from the opening jump on Friday night. The defensive effort and Braden Smith's impressive night led to a blowout win over Michigan.

Braden Smith had 24 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds and four steals to help No. 11 Purdue rout No. 21 Michigan 91-64 on Friday night. Smith was 10 of 17 from the field and had only one turnover in 37 minutes to nearly join Joe Barry Carroll as the only Purdue players with a triple-double.

With his dominant performance, Braden Smith took control of Michigan from the jump and performed strong until the end.

In the first half of Friday's Purdue-Michigan game, Braden Smith connected with Caleb Furst for an impressive alley-oop, helping the Boilers extend their lead.
