The Panthers set an NFL record for points allowed in a single season last year, but they didn't add a defensive piece with their top pick in this year's draft.

Although "a lot" of teams were apparently looking at the Panthers' eighth overall pick, GM Dan Morgan and company stuck in and picked their guy.

It worked out perfectly that way, as Walker was on the board at eight, but so was Tetairoa McMillan. The Panthers took the latter, and then they revealed that the mock drafts were never on the right track.
