The case out of Dedham, Massachusetts, has turned into a yearslong whodunnit legal saga that has captivated true-crime fans across the country.

Dedham Superior Court officials blame ‘unavoidable circumstances’ for the cancellation in testimony in the sensational retrial of Read in Massachusetts, which is in its fourth week

Karen Read pleaded not guilty to murder charges in the death of Boston police officer John O’Keefe and is facing a retrial after a jury was unable to reach a verdict last year.

Yuri Bukhenik, a Massachusetts State Police trooper, read dozens of text messages between Karen Read and Brian Higgins, an ATF agent.

The Karen Read trial is not taking place on Tuesday due to "unavoidable circumstances," a court spokesperson said in an email.

Bukhenik says he never considered Higgins to be a suspect because of the “totality of evidence” he says State Police have that point to Karen Read killing O’Keefe.

Proceedings in the retrial of Karen Read are being suspended Tuesday due to “unavoidable circumstances,” court officials said. “Please be advised that the trial in Commonwealth v. Karen Read is not taking place today due to unavoidable circumstances,” the Trial Court said in a statement.
