ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported Clowney has been released by the club. Per Over the Cap, the Panthers will take on a $6 million dead cap charge and save $7.8 million against the 2025 cap. They entered Thursday with $16.3 million in cap space, so this move will bump them up to $24.1 million.

In 14 games last season, Clowney posted 46 tackles and 5.5 sacks with the Panthers. At 32, he could fill in as a short-term starter for an edge-needy team or come off the bench as an excellent depth at pass-rusher.
