A Jacksonville police officer shot a man to death Wednesday morning after the sheriff said he pulled out a gun and fired at the officer during a traffic stop.

One man is dead and another is injured after two unrelated shootings overnight, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said. A third shooting involved officers and left a woman in critical condition. No officers were hurt.

An off-duty officer involved in a traffic incident on his way home opened fire on a truck driver on Interstate 95, although no one was hit.
