Former NBA star Carmelo Anthony was elected to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, ESPN reported on Wednesday. Anthony was well known for his stints with the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks. On January 22, 2019, Anthony became a Chicago Bull.

Anthony and Howard were announced Saturday as members of the Class of 2025, as was the 2008 U.S. Olympic men’s basketball team that they played on — dubbed the “Redeem Team,” the one that captured gold at the Beijing Games and started a still-going run of five consecutive Olympic titles and counting for USA Basketball’s men’s program.

SAN ANTONIO -- Carmelo Anthony is the headliner of the Naismith Hall of Fame Class of 2025. The new class was announced here on Saturday and also included the 2008 “Redeem Team,” Dwight Howard, Billy Donovan, Sue Bird and Maya Moore, among others.
