Highlights: In the broader markets Nifty Midcap100 index ended higher by 0.37 per cent, while Nifty Smallcap100 index settled down by 0.62 per cent

Indian benchmark indices Nifty 50 and Sensex ended the previous trade session in the green. Nifty 50 closed at 23,813.40, while Sensex ended at 78,699.07.Most Asian equities were lower in early trade today.

Among Nifty companies, only 11 stocks advanced while 38 ended in the red. Adani Enterprises, Tech Mahindra, HCL Technologies, IndusInd Bank, and Shriram Finance emerged as the top gainers.

India's benchmark indices ended in red on Monday, pressured by selling in heavyweight lenders like HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank, along with declines in auto stocks. The session saw subdued trading volumes as markets approach year-end.

The BSE Sensex fell by nearly 451 points on Monday, primarily due to selling pressure in major stocks like HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank and Reliance Industries, coupled with weak global market conditions and continued foreign fund outflows.
