Back the Blue NC is a statewide nonprofit that supports families who’ve lost a loved one in the line of duty. Its founder says the state and nation are feeling the loss of Greensboro police Officer Michael Horan.

Tarell McMillian, accused of killing Officer Horan at a Greensboro Food Lion, made his first court appearance Thursday as Horan’s family and officers looked on.
