Radar screens that monitor Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey went completely black for about 90 seconds early Friday morning, according to a new report from ABC News. The outage comes after an identical problem last week when air traffic control screens for the same airport went dark for about 60-90 seconds.

A facility that guides air traffic in and out of Newark airport suffered a new 90-second communications outage Friday, the second outage in two weeks and the latest in a string of equipment woes that have raised public alarm.

One of the region's busiest ports has come under scrutiny since revelations that its tower has lost contact with several planes in recent months.
