Arenado's preferred list of trade destinations included the Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, San Diego Padres, Philadelphia Phillies and New York Mets. While New York has shown a willingness to be aggressive,
"With the New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers seen as long shots to make a move for Arenado, an eight-time All-Star third baseman," wrote Jeff Passan of ESPN, "the (Boston) Red Sox remain the landing spot that makes the most sense ."
The Boston Red Sox reportedly are iffy about making a trade for Nolan Arenado with the St. Louis Cardinals ahead of the season.
