Sudan filed an application instituting proceedings against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) before the International Court of Justice

In an International Court of Justice complaint, the Sudanese government says the United Arab Emirates is fueling genocidal actions by funding rebels in the country’s civil war.

Sudan has filed a case at the top United Nations court accusing the United Arab Emirates of breaching the genocide convention by arming and funding the rebel paramilitary group Rapid Support Forces in Sudan’s deadly war.

The UAE’s ties to Sudan’s military go back to the Yemen conflict, where Sudanese forces were deployed as part of the Saudi-led coalition from 2015.

Sudan has filed a case against the United Arab Emirates at the World Court for allegedly violating its obligations under the Genocide Convention by arming the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces, the International Court of Justice said on Thursday.

The United Arab Emirates has long been accused by Sudan and others of supporting the rebel paramilitary Rapid Support Forces.
