Switzerland has enforced the EU's latest sanctions package targeting Russia and Belarus. This includes freezing the assets of 54 individuals and 30 entities, and banning 52 Russian-affiliated ships. These sanctions aim to restrict Russian military activities and punish those bypassing trading limits on Russian crude oil.

The Swiss Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education, and Research (EAER) announced on Monday an expansion of its sanctions targeting Russia and Belarus. The measures affect 52 ships, mainly part of Russia's shadow fleet.

"The Federal Department of Economic Affairs, Education and Research [EAER], in its capacity as the competent body for sanctions, has expanded its list of sanctions against Russia and Belarus. Switzerland is thus adopting the additional sanctions decided by the EU," the statement said.
