Nearly all of Britain has been covered by snow and ice warnings - and the Met Office is urging people to be prepared for weather chaos.

The new yellow alert issued this morning comes into effect at 6am on Sunday (January 5) and will be in place until 9pm. The Met Office has warned that heavy rain and thawing snow could lead to flooding in some places with travel disruption expect across the region.

Snow, ice, freezing rain and temperatures plunging to -10C have triggered Met Office weather warnings across much of the UK.
