Anime steampunk spin-off Arcane just wrapped up its second and final season on Netflix. While the League of Legends show cost $250 million to produce and didn’t make that money back, Riot Games cofounder Marc Merrill now says the company still considers the show a success because of how much fans loved it.

Arcane has quickly become one of Netflix's most recognisable animated streaming shows, but Riot Games has struggled to have it make financial sense.

The League of Legends animated adaptation Arcane was reportedly a “financial miss” for Riot Games. According to a recent report from Bloomberg diving into the series’ whopping $250 million price tag, the series failed to generate enough profit for Riot to justify the cost of its production.

Riot co-founder Marc Merrill broke his silence after one report claimed that while Arcane was a hit on Netflix, it was a "financial miss."
