After months of rumors swirling around Alpine, the team announced Wednesday that Franco Colapinto will replace Jack Doohan at the team starting at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola, Italy, on May 18.

Oscar Piastri told compatriot Jack Doohan “hold your head up high” after Alpine made the decision to replace him with Franco Colapinto. The call comes just six rounds into the F1 2025 campaign, with Doohan dropping to the sidelines to make space for Argentine Franco Colapinto,

Ever since the team signed Colapinto as a reserve driver ahead of the 2025 season, there was growing speculation that the 2024 Williams super-sub would get a chance to drive for Alpine at some point.
