Thousands of Pennsylvania and New Jersey workers are expected to lose their jobs amid Rite Aid‘s bankruptcy, according to layoff notices filed in each state. Over 1,000 Pennsylvania workers employed at the company’s "remote" headquarters in Philadelphia’s Navy Yard and at an office in Etters,

Rite Aid began its first round of layoffs after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection this week while also putting all its brick-and-mortar operations up for sale. Hundreds of workers lost their jobs Monday, and hundreds more will lose their jobs in June.

Philadelphia-based drugstore chain Rite Aid plans to close all of its U.S. locations — including 33 stores in Philly — and shutter its headquarters at the Navy Yard as part of its second bankruptcy filing in less than two years, the company said Monday.
